Love in the Dark

A song that I think is poetic is the song Love in the Dark by Adele, from her new album 25.
This song is written about a heartbreak. It explains how you can still love someone but be better off without them. A heartbreak could be a simple one or very complicated. In this song, she explains how challenging it is for her to let go because of everything they have gone through, either good or bad.
Adele writes a line in the song  "This is never ending, we have been here before".  That draws an image for me that shes explaining that no matter how hard they've been trying to make things better for themselves, things have never changed. They either get worse or go back to the way that things used to be.
"It feels like we're oceans apart, there is so much space between us" is a line that strikes out to me.Shes comparing the distance of two oceans to what she feels like in her relationship. Adele is singing about a relationship, but this line makes me think that there's something different. They feel like they don't have a connection. The relationship that they thought they had is no longer there and they feel as if they have been more that distant from each other. Many of Adele's song are love songs that could be about heart break or just being happy. This song in particular really grabs my attention by the meaning of the lyrics. Adele writes, "I want to live and not just survive" I think that is the most powerful line of the entire song, its very short but it has a great meaning. It makes the audience get a feel or an image of what her relationship was like. It creates a powerful image of how not only have they survived a tremendous amount, but they haven't been able to live. They've survived so much but have forgotten that they need to live, and be happy, and enjoy life.
